Valvoline (Australia) Pty Ltd is the new naming rights sponsor of the circuit that started life as Granville Speedway in 1977.
The venue changed to become Parramatta Speedway, then Parramatta City Raceway and in recent years to Sydney Speedway.
Valvoline is the best known name in US auto racing and it has been that way since the first wheel turned in competition.
Australia has enjoyed a long and distinguished association with the Company from the days of speedcar driver Len Brock at the original Sydney Showground to the US late model sedan team in the early eighties, sprintcar supremo Max Dumesny and Garry Rogers Motorsport.
Mr Tony McDermott Valvoline’s General Manager Marketing and Mr Stuart Gagg, Manager NSW and ACT made the joint announcement this afternoon with Raceway CEO Mike Raymond.
The change of name is effective immediately and the venue will be known as Valvoline Raceway, the Speedway by the Freeway.
“The circuit has a long and proud history and has played host to the world’s best drivers and that tradition will continue,” said Mike.
“I approached Stuart Gagg a few months ago and he and Tony liked the proposal,”
“I only wanted Valvoline as our naming rights sponsor because I believe it represents a perfect fit with our exciting brand of racing” he concluded.
Valvoline Raceway celebrates the commencement of the new season on Saturday night at 7.00 p.m.
International sprintcars, late models, lively Legends, AMCAs, the WSFM Fireworks Spectacular and a 40 car Demolition Derby will be featured on the huge programme.
